Karachi: The Ombudsman Sindh ordered the elimination of the Executive Director (CEO) of K-Electric Moonis Alvi of his position after finding him guilty of harassing an employee.
Justice (r) Shahnawaz Tariq, who serves as the Ombudsman for the Provincial People for the Protection of Women’s Harassment in the workplace, also imposed a fine of RS2.5 million in Alvi. The fine must be paid within a month.
According to the ruling, the plaintiff underwent harassment and mental anguish by the CEO of Ke.
If Alvi does not comply with the order, the Ombudsman has ordered the authorities to freeze their mobile and immovable assets.

The verdict has been issued under the protection against women’s harassment in the law of the workplace.
‘Deeply distressing’
Reacting to the verdict, Moonis Alvi described the verdict as “deeply distressing” and said that the findings do not reflect their experience of the events. Ke’s CEO said he is reviewing the ruling with legal advisor and announced to present an appeal.
“I respect the legal process and the institutions that maintain it,” he said. “But I must, in good awareness, to reject the findings as inaccurate.”
He said the matter has been painful personally and professionally, adding that he remains committed to pursuing the truth through all legal routes.
“Meanwhile, I am grateful for the support of those who know me, who have worked with me and who believe in due process. My respect for the principles of justice and dignity in the workplace is still unwavering,” he said.
Alvi joined the energy distribution company in 2008, and has played key roles in the organization as CFO, secretary of the company and treasury head before its appointment as CEO in 2018.
The Board of Directors of K-Electric (KE) again appropriated it as CEO.
“The Board of Directors, at its meeting held on July 7, 2025, has once again appointed Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi as K-Electric Executive Director with an effect since July 30, 2025,” said Ke’s press release.
