- OnePlus has presented the OnePlus Watch Lite
- It is light, thin and affordable.
- The watch will not be available in the US.
OnePlus previously said the OnePlus Watch Lite was on the way, and now the affordable wearable is official: It comes in a single 45mm size, with up to 10 days of battery life and a 1.46-inch display that hits up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness.
That beats the OnePlus Watch 3’s 2,200 nits maximum brightness, and another key reason you might want to choose the Lite model is the price. It will currently cost £159/€159 on OnePlus’ site, compared to $499/£269/AU$499/€299 for the flagship model. It’s important to note that the new model will not be available in the US or Australia.
With all the specs, features and pricing included, this could be the best value for money smartwatch OnePlus has launched yet, although we’ll have to test it to know for sure. You can purchase it in two colors, Black Steel or Silver Steel.
Another difference with the OnePlus Watch 3 is that you don’t get Google’s Wear OS software here. Instead, there is the OxygenOS Watch 7.1 operating system developed by OnePlus, which features a simple and straightforward look.
Design and monitoring
In terms of design, there are definite touches of the OnePlus Watch 3 here, including the rotating crown and the sensor to the right of the case. The sensor powers the 60-second health check we’ve seen on previous OnePlus smartwatches.
Most importantly, though, the OnePlus Watch Lite is thinner and lighter than the model that preceded it, as the name suggests. That’s a plus if you’re going to use it to track exercise and sleep.
Speaking of activity tracking, the watch is capable of monitoring heart rate, blood oxygen, and over 100 types of exercises. It has an IP68 rating for waterproof and dust protection, and can be used while swimming. The latter is thanks to a 5 ATM rating which is equivalent to a depth of 50 meters.
Another notable feature: the OnePlus Watch Lite can connect to both iPhone and Android devices, making it an alternative to the best Apple Watches. Apart from the watch, OnePlus also launched the OnePlus Pad Go 2 and OnePlus 15R.
