LAHORE:
Former senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said on Saturday that Pakistan’s political instability was due to the refusal to respect the election results.
Speaking at ThinkFest, he said the first and last solution to the problem was free and fair elections. “The practice of discarding election results must come to an end.”
He said most elections in recent years had been contested on a “victim card”, adding that at different times Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan were propelled to victory by narratives of political victimhood.
“The cost of the internal political struggles was paid by the citizens.”
