The PAC panel finds irregularities RS185b PQA

Islamabad:

A subcommittee from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has discovered great irregularities in the financial affairs of the Port Qasim Authority (PQA), including the unauthorized use of RS185 billion for two fiscal years.

In a meeting chaired by Call Moin Amir Pirzada, audit officials revealed that the PQA spent the large amount during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 financial years without obtaining the required approval of the federal government, in clear violation of the rules.

The Secretary of Maritime Affairs attributed the period to the previous practice of the authority to prepare his own annual budget, which used to be authorized by the Board.

However, the president emphasized that the irregularities had occurred, however, and directed a complete audit of the matter.
