The cork protocol of the Decentralized Finance Platform (DEFI) has suffered an intelligent contract exploit, with computer pirates that, according to reports, steal $ 12 million in Ether wrapped states (WSTETH).
Blockchain Security Monitor Cyvers noticed the exploit, stating that the malicious contract was implemented by a wallet probably financed by a service provider.
He added that $ 12 million in Wsteth were quickly exchanged for ETH.
The Cork protocol received investments from A16z Crypto and Orangedao in September 2024.
“There was a security incident that affected Wsteth: Weeth Market at 11:23 UTC today,” Cork wrote in X.
Cork added that all other markets have stopped as a precaution and that he is investigating the root cause.
The Debaub Security Audit Company wrote that the attacker probably manipulated a problem with the intelligent contact exchange rate by emitting false tokens.
