Islamabad:
Consumers are likely to face an increase in electricity rates to RS0.91 per unit on account of the fuel adjustment for the month of August 2025.
Nepra will hold a public hearing on September 29, with respect to a petition presented by the Power Central Guardia Limited (CPPA-G) purchasing agency.
CPPA-G has sought an increase in fuel cost adjustment charges (FCA) by August 2025 to RS0.1911 per kilovatio-hora (KWH) on the reference price of fuel due to variations in generation costs.
The general cost of fuel of the generation averaged RS7.5059/kWh, compared to the notified reference price of RS7.3149/KWh.
After counting the transmission losses, sales to IPP and previous adjustments, the net cost delivered to the disk was RS7.5059/kWh. According to this calculation, CPPA-G has requested an ascending adjustment of RS0.1911/kWh in the monthly FCA.
Coal -based power provided a significant portion of supply, with the local coal that produces 1,442 GWh at a cost of RS12.0146/kWh and imported coal that generates 1,138 GWh to RS14.0753/kWh. Nuclear energy, which represented 2,145 GWh or 15.09 percent of the total generation, delivered electricity at a relatively low cost of RS2.1950/kWh. The electricity imported from Iran, although a minor collaborator with 78 GWh, had a much higher price of RS41.0948/kWh.
The residual fuel (RFO), despite its limited participation of 92 GWh (0.65%), had the most expensive unit cost among conventional fuels at RS33.0064/kWh. High speed diesel did not register any generation during the month.
The fuel loading adjustments are carried out under section 31 (7) of the 1997 NEPRA Law, the notice highlights that the federal government policy guidelines on the uniform fuel cost adjustments require that the charges applicable to discos also extend to electritic consumers K, which guarantees parity throughout the country.
