The power rate is likely to be reduced by RS1.69 per unit

It is likely that energy consumers throughout the country obtain RS1.69 per unit of relief in their September invoices under the monthly fuel positions (FCA), said Express News.

The member of the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), the Sindh member, Rafiq Sheikh, reviewed on Wednesday the application of the Power Central Purchase Agency (CPPA-G), which, if approved, would provide relief of RS23 billion to consumers.

However, the reduction will be applied only one month and will exclude the loading stations of the life line, protected, prepaid and cargo of electric vehicles.

During the session, Nepra expressed a strong disgust due to the increase in electrocution incidents during the heavy rains of July. The authority pointed out that 11 people lost their lives in a single month due to accidents, including six deaths in the region of the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) alone.

Sheikh warned of imposing maximum sanctions on distribution companies. However, he regretted that public services often obtain orders for the stay of the courts against such fines.

Nepra confirmed that the Ministry of Energy had transmitted the instructions of the Economic Coordination Committee to collect the same FCA of K-Electric consumers so that a uniform tariff policy could be maintained.

The regulator said he listened to all interested parties and will issue a detailed decision after a greater scrutiny of the data presented.
