Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Sunday that a package was being prepared under a comprehensive and effective strategy to reduce electricity rates, which would be announced soon.
By chairing a review meeting on matters related to the power division, Shahbaz emphasized that there were no changes in government policies and priorities with respect to solar energy.
“The promotion of renewable energy is the priority of the government,” said the prime minister, while heading to the meeting. “There has been no change in government policy and priorities with respect to solar energy.”
The prime minister ordered the interested authorities to eliminate all the ambiguities between the public with respect to the solarization policy presenting facts and figures.
Ordered accelerating the privatization process of energy distribution companies (disc). “All legal and other issues with respect to generation companies must be resolved as soon as possible,” he told participants.
Shehbaz said the public would provide more relief in electricity prices after reforms in the electricity sector. “A package is being prepared under a comprehensive and effective strategy to reduce electric tariffs, which will be announced soon.”
The Prime Minister directed to further improve the coordination between the Energy Division, the Division of Water Resources and the Petroleum Division for a comprehensive strategy with respect to the energy sector.
