The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has reversed its decision to oppose the government at the federal and provincial levels, ensuring continued cooperation with the ruling coalition, Express News reported on Tuesday.
According to sources, high-level talks were held between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and PPP, and a key meeting was held between PPP leaders and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.
The meeting took place at the President House and was attended by PPP leaders Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto as well as PML-N Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar.
Sources confirmed that the discussions focused on the ongoing negotiations between the two parties, and the PPP’s concerns and demands were addressed. One of the key issues was the power sharing formula in Punjab.
Dar assured PPP leaders that their concerns would be addressed and acknowledged that the power-sharing agreement in Punjab was a major barrier to the success of the negotiations.
He further stated that the ruling coalition was ready to move forward together on all issues, signaling its willingness to address any gaps that remained in the discussions. Following Dar’s assurances, Bilawal indicated that the PPP would continue to support the government and maintain full cooperation.
