The president approves the change in the 11th NFC

Islamabad:

President Asif Ali Zardari has approved a change in the Constitution of the 11th National Finance Commission (NFC).

The 11th NFC was established on August 22 to prepare a new prize for sharing federal divisible resources between the center and the provinces.

Chaired by the Minister of Finance, Muhammad Aurengzeb, the NFC includes four provincial finance ministers and four non -state members, one of each province.

However, its inaugural session was postponed at the request of the Government of Sindh “due to the imminent flood situation.”

“The change became necessary after the Baluchistan government reviewed its nomination, recommending Mahfooz Ali Khan as its non -official member in the eleventh NFC. The president granted the approval of this nomination, replacing the previous approval,” said the president of the press secretariat in a press release on Saturday.

In addition, the President has also nodded the bill of criminal laws (amendment), 2025, as approved by Parliament.

The President also gave his consent to the bill of the Port Authority of the Earth of Pakistan, 2025, thus with his approval, the bill now became an act of Parliament.

“The promulgation paves the way to establish the Pakistan land authority, an ordered legal body to facilitate the movement of goods and people through the border crossing points. The authority will serve as a central platform for coordination between agencies, ensuring efficient trade and passenger movement in land ports,” said President Secretariat Press Wing in a press release on Saturday.

With this development, Pakistan became the third country in southern Asia, after Bangladesh and India to establish a dedicated port authority.

The authority will introduce a robust mechanism to effectively coordinate with border management agencies, rationalize commercial facilitation and improve cross -border connectivity.

It will also play a vital role in complying with Pakistan’s obligations under international agreements and conventions.

“The establishment of Pakistan’s Port Port Authority marks a significant step to strengthen the regional commercial integration of Pakistan, improve border management and improve economic connectivity with neighboring countries,” added.

In addition, the President settled the Petroleum Law Project (amendment), 2025, approved by Parliament.

“The law strengthens the measures against smuggling and the illegal operation of gasoline bombs. Empuera to the attached commissioners, already attending commissioners of customs authorities to confiscate illegal oil products and vehicles, presents a monitoring based on IT and improves the sanctions for violations,” said the secretary president of the press in a press release on Saturday.

The legislation is expected to modernize the regulation of the oil sector, improve transparency and strengthen government efforts against smuggling and tax evasion.
