Islamabad:
President Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed on Tuesday Pakistan’s commitment to further expand bilateral cooperation with the Russian Federation in the areas of commerce, investment, technology and exchanges of people to people.
Speaking at a ceremony that marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Russian Federation in the Great Patriotic War, the president highlighted the growing impulse in the relations of Pakistan-Russia and expressed his confidence that the recent high-level interactions between the two countries have sat a solid base for a deeper commitment and a greater understanding.
“I am sure that the ties of friendship between Pakistan and Russia will continue to strengthen,” said the president, adding that both nations have “immense potential to expand cooperation in commerce, investment, technology and contacts of people to people.”
He described Russia as a “key global power” and highlighted his role in promoting regional peace and stability, especially his role in the decallation of tensions between Pakistan and India.
The president extended warm congratulations to President Vladimir Putin, the Russian government and the people of Russia on the occasion.
