The president urges efforts to strengthen the economy


Islamabad:

President Asif Zardari on Monday, citing the vast development potential of the country, requested concerted efforts to build a robust and self -sufficient national economy.

The president, in a meeting with the leaders and workers of the Popular Party of Pakistan at the AIWAN-E-SADR on the occasion of EID UL-AZHA, extended the greetings to them.

He praised workers as the strength of the party, recognizing their firm support during challenging times. He urged them to remain dedicated to the nation and contribute to their progress.

He also asked to work together for the development and prosperity of the country.

He highlighted agriculture as the cornerstone of the national economy, emphasizing the need to prioritize their growth and support farmers to strengthen economic foundations.

The president expressed concerns about the increase in extremism in India, said that Indian minorities, especially Muslims and Christians, faced discrimination and oppression.

The extremist ideology of India Hindutva raises threats to the entire region, he added.

He also underlined the deep historical, religious and cultural roots of Muslims in the subcontinent.
