- New data reveals that PS5 is selling PS4 to its predecessor in the United States
- However, the Xbox X series and the Xbox S series are staying behind the Xbox One for 19%
- The PlayStation portal was also the best -selling game accessory in February 2025
The new sales statistics have shown that the PS5 is selling the PS4 in the United States, but the Xbox Series and Xbox Series S units are staying behind Xbox One by a significant margin.
That is according to the new data of the Circana video game industry, Mat Piscatella, who recently shared that after the first 52 months of each console in the market, the PS5 is surpassing the PS4 in sales by 7%.
The Sony Gen Gen console has just had its best registered financial quarter, sending almost 10 million units at the end of 2024, so the fact that it is far ahead of its predecessor is not surprising.
As for Microsoft systems, the sales of their current generation consoles seem to be missing, since the Xbox X and Xbox X series are exceeded by the Xbox One by 19%.
It is also said that the PS5 was the best -selling hardware platform in February 2025 “in units and dollars” and that the Xbox series systems occupied number two in both measures.
Sony continued to have a successful February, since its PlayStation Portal base model was once again the best -selling game accessory of the month in consumer spending, while the Remote Player – Midnight Black portal occupied third place in general, and the Dualsense wireless controller Edge – Midnight Black in fifth place.
The reason for the lowest sales of Xbox Series X and S cannot be determined from the data we have, but it could be due in part to the presence of Microsoft PC, especially when the Xbox game pass is taken into account, which reached 34 million subscribers in February 2024.
Last year, it was reported that the PS5 was selling the Xbox X and Xbox Series X series, and had sent 4.5 million units between January and March 2024. Of the latest data, it is clear that the PS5 is still dominating the sales of consoles and that does not count the PS5 Pro units.
