The Ramadan of CM Punjab packages see fraud by government officials

A great fraud has been discovered that involves government officials in the distribution of the Punjab Ramadan package, and the police initiated an investigation into the matter.

The alleged fraud was committed in the “Ramadán Neghban package” for the public, and officials diverted the funds for the disadvantaged, said Express News.

According to a report, the officials took advantage of the package when embolizing the funds instead of distributing them to the deserving beneficiaries.

Two government employees, including police officers, and a third individual have been arrested in relation to fraud, who involved checks worth RS1.5 Lakh.

Police registered a case against the suspects and recovered the amount that had already been charged by one of the defendants.

The investigation revealed that the suspects had fraudulently charged 17 checks, while another 92 checks had not yet been charged. The defendants, including government employees, Hafiz Abdul Rahman and Mazum Ali, tried to maintain funds for the public.

The investigation was directed by the commissioner Shalimar and the income officer Sabir Ali, who, after stopping the accused, handed them over to the police. The case was filed under the complaint of Dr. Rizwan, health officer of the Deputy District, at the Harbanspura police station.

According to the Ramadan package, eligible people were supposed to receive a bank draft of RS10,000 each. However, the accused officials diverted these funds, trying to charge them instead of delivering them to the legitimate receptors.

The police continue to investigate the case, with the authorities that now work to avoid more fraudulent activities in the future.
