Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa’s dog probably died of dehydration and hunger.
A report by the Veterinary Laboratory of the United States Department of Agriculture has detailed partial mummification and also provided information about the death of the dog.
The report establishes that the stomach of the Kelpie mixture called Zinna, one of the three dogs of the couple, was mostly empty, except for small amounts of hair and bile, People’s magazine reported.
It was discovered that the other two dogs were healthy despite being rescued for a week after the couple died in their Santa Fe apartment, where the 95 -year -old actor, and Arakawa, 65, led a private life.
The authorities confirmed last week that Hackman died of heart disease with complications of Alzheimer’s disease in February 2025, approximately one week after the death of his wife, who had succumbed to a rare pulmonary syndrome of Hantavirus hantavirus.
Hackman, in Alzheimer’s advanced stages, apparently he didn’t know his wife was dead.
