“We are receiving the notice of Indianapolis 500 after the race according to the provisions of Indycar,” said Andretti Global in a statement. “We are taking the necessary time to evaluate the information and we will request a complete review with Indycar.”

Indycar said that the modifications made by Andretti Global were for the covers of the energy management system provided by Dallara, the company that provides the chassis for the series. The rules book establishes that these pieces should be used as supplied.

Being transferred to the back of the field also resulted in the loss of the Ericsson and Kirkwood award and championship points from their original finishes. Both drivers will receive the money and the points associated with their penalized end.

Each car also received a fine of $ 100,000, and competition managers for the teams have been suspended for the next race in the streets of Detroit.

It was an incredibly expensive swing for Andretti, since the INDY 500 bag this year was a record of $ 20,283,000, and winner Palou received $ 3.8 million. Ericsson will receive $ 610,500 for finishing 31 when he could have won up to $ 1 million in second.

Kirkwood will win $ 607,500 after being accredited by the 32nd final.

“We had a great race, we met the sixth line,” Kirkwood said. “We will review the process (review), and this team is based on sportsmanship. They are based on integrity and try to do everything right in the future.”

The disqualifications changed the podium finish order, with David Malukas of AJ Foyt Racing uploading to the second and O’Ward Pato de Arrow McLaren uploading to third. For the Foyt team, combined with the fifth adjusted place of Santino Ferrucci, he scored the best Endy 500 final in 25 years for the team.

Automobile No. 90 of Callum Ilott also failed the technical inspection after the race after not complying with the minimum height of the final plate and the location specification. Prema Racing received the same penalties as Andretti Global, which means that instead of 12ยบ, Ilott will be attributed to the last one in “the biggest show in the races.”
