The Samsung Galaxy S25 has the same main camera sensor as the Samsung Galaxy S24, so although this camera works reasonably well, an update with the Samsung Galaxy S26 is really due. Fortunately, an update is what we could get.
According to Galaxyclub, the Samsung Galaxy S26 will have a new 50MP sensor. Now, that is not a change in megapixels, but the site states that “as far as we understand” it will be a new model in the Samsung Isocell series, and possibly one that has not yet been announced. That would be instead of the 50MP GN3 isocell at the Samsung Galaxy S25.
While the Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus is not mentioned here, we would expect that this new sensor also has since the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus has the same sensor as the base S25. That means that there is a Galaxy S26 Plus, since some reports claim that Samsung is considering getting rid of this model in favor of a Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge.
Samsung or Sony?
Speaking of the S26 edge, Leaker @jukanlosreve has affirmed that both this and the Samsung Galaxy S26 Base will use a 50MP Sony sensor. That is slightly disagree with the previous claim, since although both leaks point to a new 50MP sensor for the S26 Galaxy, there is disagreement in the brand.

Even so, the sensor seems likely to be changing, even if we are not sure what. However, equipping the Samsung Galaxy S26 edge with a 50MP sensor would seem like a strange choice, since the Samsung Galaxy S25 EDGE has one of 200MP. Less megapixels does not necessarily mean a reduction in quality, but it might not look good from a marketing perspective.
We would take all this with a pinch of salt anyway, since the Samsung Galaxy S26 series will probably not land until early 2026.
However, we have begun to listen to enough things about these phones, with previous leaks that point to larger batteries throughout the S26 series, while the base model could have an exyn 2600 chipset in some regions, and the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra could obtain a new lens and a variable opening.
Therefore, it seems that there could be many updates that arrive at Samsung’s flagship series.
