- According to reports, some Samsung Galaxy S26 models will use an exyn 2600 chipset
- However, it seems that others will still have a snapdragon chipset
- Snapdragon chips are generally more powerful, but the gap could be closing
The Samsung Galaxy S25 series has been a bit anomaly, since while Samsung usually uses two different chipsets for its Galaxy S phones (depending on the model and the region), this year used the Snapdragon 8 Elite in all areas. Next year, however, we could see a divided chipset again.
This agrees with the leaks of good reputation @jukanlosreve, who said in X that “the exynos 2600 has definitely returned and will be used in the S26”. However, it does not seem that this is a complete change of Snapdragon, since they added that the volume of chip is apparently limited.
So, in other words, it is possible that Samsung cannot produce enough exyn 2600 chips to equip each Samsung Galaxy S26 model with one, which means that some models and/or some regions will probably obtain the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, or what Qualcomm ends up calling its next -generation chipset.
Exynos 2600 is definitely back and will be used in S26. But the volume of the chip is so limited that it will probably be similar to the situation of exynos 990. I am not sure if SF2 is really good.March 30, 2025
In general, when Samsung uses two different sets of chips, it equips us with versions with one Snapdragon, while elsewhere the base models and more obtain exynos, and the ultra still obtains Snapdragon. Then, according to the last form, the Samsung Galaxy S26 and Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus could use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 in the US. UU. And exynos 2600 in other places, while the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra could use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 in the world world.
Power and efficiency differences
What does that mean for you? Well, the Qualcomm Snapdragon chips tend to overcome Samsung’s exynos, so we were very happy to see the Snapdragon 8 Elite used worldwide with the Galaxy S25 series. But, in fact, the exynos 2400 used by the Samsung Galaxy S24 series in some regions was not drastically behind his rival Snapdragon.
In our own tests, comparing a Samsung Galaxy S24 with a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, with an Ultra Samsung Galaxy S24, we discover that “it will not notice this difference in performance in general use, since both phones are much faster than they need to be.”
And there are some areas in which the exynos 2400 really seems to overcome the Snapdragon chipset of that generation. For example, Android Authority discovered that the battery life was better with the exynos.
So, if you live in a region where the Samsung Galaxy S26 gets an exyn 2600 chipset, that may not be so bad.
In any case, it is very early for the leaks of Samsung Galaxy S26, since these phones will probably not be launched until 2026. Therefore, although this is not the first time we hear that the exynos 2600 could be used in the alignment next year, we cannot be at all sure which chipset or chips will be used yet anyway. For now, then, we would not worry too much about this possibility.
