The Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro, which is supposedly what the base Galaxy S26 will be called, doesn’t really sound very ‘Pro’, and the latest leak suggests that in some ways it might not even be an update to the Samsung Galaxy S25.
According to leaker Erencan Yilmaz (via NotebookCheck), who claims to have found this information in the latest version of One UI 8.5, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro will have the exact same 50MP ISOCELL GN3 sensor for its main camera as the Galaxy S25, which is actually the sensor Samsung has been using since the Galaxy S22.
It will also apparently feature the same 10MP S5K3K1 telephoto camera that Samsung has used since the Galaxy S22 series, and the same 12MP IMX564 sensor for ultra-wide shots that has been used since the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, with the 12MP S5K3LU front camera that also dates back to the Galaxy S23.

So that would mean no real changes for several years for the camera hardware, and in turn there’s probably no real reason to buy the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro if you were primarily hoping for camera upgrades.
It’s worth noting that this contradicts some previous leaks, one of which suggested a different 50MP main sensor would be used and another pointed out a new 50MP ultra-wide camera. Although the source of that second leak called this update “useless,” whatever the case, things don’t sound promising for the Galaxy S26 Pro’s cameras.
Exynos power and a larger battery
Beyond the camera, today’s leak also points to an Exynos 2600 chipset, which is also a bit disappointing as it’s unlikely to be as powerful as the The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is expected to power many of the best Android phones of 2026. Still, American buyers can at least get the Snapdragon in its previous form.
Finally, this leak mentions a 4,300 mAh battery, which fortunately would be an upgrade from the 4,000 mAh battery on the Samsung Galaxy S25. And this battery increase is a claim we’ve also heard before, so it may well be accurate.
We should find out exactly what the Galaxy S26 Pro has to offer in January or February, but between these unpromising leaks and reports that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge has been cancelled, 2026 may not be a banner year for Samsung.
