- Samsung has confirmed that he will send his next folding phones with Android 16
- That will probably do them among the first phones to run android 16 outside the box
- Samsung customizations focus on AI, security and convenience
In general, the new folding phones of Samsung are launched with the version of the previous year of Android, since in the past Google had been launching new versions of Android later in the year that Samsung phones. But that is changing this year.
We already know that Android 16 will be launched soon, with June, with probable, while the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 will probably be launched in July. That makes it viable for them to launch with Android 16 outside the box, but until today we were not sure that this would happen, since Samsung still needs time to make its own software modifications.
However, the company has now confirmed that these phones will be sent with Android 16, which probably does them among the first phones to run android 16 outside the box.
Faster than normal
This is a bit surprising since Samsung can often be slow to update its phones, but the company states that this was achieved through “open communication” and “real -time comments” with Google.
Specifically, you will get a UI 8 at the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. This is the personalized version of Samsung of Android 16 and, as you will have guessed, it focuses a lot on AI.
That said, Samsung also highlights the “convenient and intuitive tools”, such as allowing you to connect to Bluetooth audio devices effortlessly scanning a QR code.
Of course, you will not have to buy one of Samsung’s next folding to obtain Android 16 and an UI 8: the company has already launched a Beta One 8 Beta in the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, so those devices will probably also get access to the finished version of this software shortly after it is available.
