The SCBA chief wants the government to participate in BNP-M

Islamabad:

The president of the Association of Lawyers of the Supreme Court (SCBA), Mian Rouf Atta, has urged federal and provincial governments to form a totally trained committee to maintain negotiations with the head of the National Party of Baluchistan-Mengal (BNP-M) Akhtar Mengal.

Last Friday, the BNP-M announced a long march from Wadh to Quetta to protest against the arrests of the leaders and activists of the Balochjehti committee, including Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Sammi Deen Baloch, as well as the police offensive in his sitting in Quetta. Sammi was released on Tuesday.

An official statement was issued on the meeting between the president of SCBA and the head of BNP-M, which took place in a remote place in the Mastung district.

According to the SCBA statement, BNP-M, which is dedicated to a protest movement, presented its position, stating that their fight and protest are constitutionally justified.

During the meeting, Mengal revealed that a Baluchistan government committee had approached him. In response, the BNP-M established three key demands, including the release of all detainees maintained under MPO and withdrawal from the related notification, as done by the Sindh government.

The BNP-M sought permission to maintain protests or sitting inside a designated area that fell into the red zone. In addition, he declared that if these demands are not met, all the leadership of BNP-M was prepared for the judicial arrest.

According to the statement, the BNP-M clarified that if their demands were not met in one day or two, they would proceed with their march of planned protest to the red zone.

The president of SCBA reaffirmed that the right to the peaceful assembly, protest, freedom of expression and movement are fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

The statement also noted that both parties agreed that dialogue, negotiations and democratic processes are the only viable solutions to BNP-M concerns and the broader problems of Baluchistan.

Separately, the president of SCBA met with the former Baluchistan Prime Minister, Dr. Abdul Malik, to discuss the pressing problems of the province. Senator Mir Kabir Muhammad Shahi was also present during the meeting.

According to a SCBA statement, the meeting was held in the context of efforts to unite all national political parties to address Baluchistan’s continuous challenges. The discussions focused on formulating a long -term solution to the problems of the province.

Both parties agreed that border management and equitable distribution of resources are critical provincial issues. However, they emphasized that these concerns should not have priority over the public safety and well -being of the citizens of Baluchistan.

The statement expressed concerns about the “lack of seriousness that shows the main political parties” regarding Baluchistan’s problems.
