The severe climate of the monsoon triggers red alerts in several provinces

The weather authorities of Pakistan have issued red alerts in multiple provinces, since the powerful monzón systems threaten to unleash sudden floods, landslides and urban flooding until Tuesday, July 15.

Pakistan’s department of Meteorology (PMD) warned that “heavy to very strong rain” could unleash sudden floods in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, parts of Baluchistan, Kashmir, Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The torrents of the hill in Dera Ghazi Khan and landslides in Gilgit-Baltistan are also possible, while wind storms can damage trees, poles, vehicles and crops standing.

Meanwhile, Karachi and other parts of Sindh, although they are not under threat of flooding, can witness extreme humidity and sporadic activity of electric storms.

The port city is expected to face temperatures between 33 ° C and 36 ° C, with 78%humidity levels, intensifying discomfort. PMD predicts thunderstorms with rain in the afternoon half of the week.

Other districts of Sindh, including Thatta, Sukkur, Jacobabad and Larkana, can also receive isolated downpours and thunderstorms. Sukkur could see temperatures as high as 44 ° C, while Thatta can face storms despite a relatively softer 36 ° C.

“The combination of monzónic currents of the Arabic sea and Bengal’s bay, and a strong wave of the west, will intensify rain throughout the country,” said an office spokesman. It is likely that this dual meteorological system persists in the next few days.

In the last 24 hours, Okara (72 mm), Sahiwal (66 mm) and DG Khan (51 mm) lead rain reports on Punjab, while Swat, Kalam and Malam Jabba received constant rainfall in KP. Urban flood remains a significant concern for cities such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Peshawar.

The authorities have urged the public to avoid unnecessary trips, ensure loose infrastructure and prepare for emergency responses as the monzón climate deepens the entire country.
