Rawalpindi:
The continuous sugar crisis in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad has only seen a marginal improvement, with market instability persisting.
On Monday, 600 sugar bags were supplied to the Rawalpindi district by local sugar factories at the request of the administration. However, limited actions were consumed rapidly, doing little to relieve the broader shortage.
With more than 18,000 grocery stores that operate in twin cities, all shipping was quickly acquired by wholesale distributors, without virtually being available for retail consumers. As a result, many points of sale of groceries in Rawalpindi have exhausted their sugar broth.
In the open market, the sugar is currently sold at RS210 at RS220 per kilogram, depending on the area. Despite the seriousness of the crisis, there is no coordinated distribution mechanism between sugar factories, runners, wholesalers and retail merchants.
The high -level meetings held in Lahore and Islamabad on Monday did not yield processable results.
The wholesale sugar supply has been suspended during the last 13 days, causing disagreement in most retail stores. According to the reports, those few stores that still had stocks are sold at RS210 per kg in central areas and even RS220 per kg in surrounding locations.
