More than a dozen people, including women and children, were injured when a speed bus overturned near the Razzaqabad Police Training Center in the Shah Latif area on Friday, after an imprudent attempt to overcome a water truck on the national road, said Express News.
According to rescue officials, the incident occurred when the water oil tanker persistently touched and pressed the bus behind in an apparent attempt to pass. In response, the bus driver accelerated but lost control of the vehicle, which deviated from the road and hit a path.
The impact threw several passengers from their seats, many of which suffered head injuries after hitting the iron accessories on the bus.
The volunteers of the Edhi Foundation, Sajid Pathan and Abid Rasheed, said the bus carried members of a family from the city of Orangi, who were heading to Lake Kalri for a picnic.
While many initially rejected medical assistance, police and rescue workers convinced them to receive first aid. At least six passengers with more serious injuries were transported to a nearby hospital.

Those injured and taken to the hospital were identified as Mukhtar Ahmed (48), Mehtashim Hussain (25), Naveed Hussain (18), Azeem Shakir (20), Naqqash (20), Gulshan (26), Farhan (30), his sister Sehr (20), younger brother Arman (17) and his father Qugussain (58).
Several passengers refused to be taken to the hospital and, instead, requested to return home. Police said the oil driver managed to flee from the scene and has not yet been tracked. A case is likely to be registered.
The incident highlights the growing dangers of unregulated commercial traffic and reckless driving in the main Karachi arteries, particularly on weekends and vacations when family departures become more frequent.
Last year, a similar tragedy was developed in the Mauripur area, where seven hikers, including three children, were killed and another 14 wounded after a roller coaster collided with a trailer and overturned. That accident also involved families who were heading to a picnic.
