The Square Financial Technology Company has introduced a new addition to its hardware line. Square Handheld is a compact and portable point of sale device (POS) built to meet the needs in evolution of restaurants and retailers.
With a weight of only 11 ounces and less than an inch thickness, the device offers full power functionality in a factor in a small enough to fit in a slope or pocket.
The new device includes a 6.2 -inch Glass Glass touch screen, an integrated barcode scanner and a 16 megapixel camera.
Protected of dust splashes and water
Square Handheld admits touch and immersion payments and is executed in the application of the newly unified Square point of sale.
The hardware has an IP54 classification for protection against dust and water splashing, while the battery is built to last a business day.
This model is designed to help sellers to receive orders, administer the inventory and complete transactions from any store or restaurant, without returning to a fixed payment terminal.
The device is based on Square’s hardware design history, which began with its original card reader and now includes solutions such as Square Stand, Square Terminal and Square Register.
The software experience includes seven configurable modes adapted to specific industries, including food service, bars and retail trade. Sellers can change between ways as their operational needs change. Push notifications and specific controls of the device help optimize workflows for staff on the march.
Square Handheld is launched as part of square launches, a new biannual deployment that groups the main hardware and software updates. It is available in Square Shop, with a price of $ 399. A series of protection cases designed by Belkin will also be available in multiple colors, from $ 39.
