The statue of Satoshi Nakamoto missing is recovered in Lugano

The famous statue of Satoshi Nakamoto, an ingenious illusion of the line of vision provided by the Italian artist Valentina Picozzi, which was reported that it disappeared on Sunday was recovered from a nearby lake, Satoshigallery, the artistic project led by Picozzi, in an X position.

The gallery reported that the statue was missing on August 3 with a photo that shows only an empty land where the layers of stripes that disappeared in the code had been left since the end of 2024. The statue that represents the pseudonym creator of Bitcoin was revealed on October 25, 2024 in the Bitcoin forum of Plan B as Swiss -Tether and Lugano to the brand of the city of Bitcoin (BTC) hub.

The theft was first informed by the user X @grostoshi, who suspected that he had been thrown into a lake next to the sculpture. Satoshigallery offered a reward of 0.1 BTC to anyone who could help find the statue.

“We are offering 0.1 BTC who helps us recover the statue of Satoshi Nakamoto that was stolen yesterday in Lugano,” said the X Post. “You can steal our symbol, but you can never steal our souls. We are all together and commit ourselves to place the statue in 21 places worldwide.”

Hargoshi had suggested that theft was an act of vandalism resulting from celebrations related to Swiss National Day, which falls on August 1.

“There are cameras everywhere in the city, so I suppose they threw it inside the lake next to you, before going home. In any way, they could have taken it without being noticed in the city.” Hargoshi wrote shortly before the statue was found in the lake.

What damage has the statue received has not yet been determined.

Picozzi shared images on the social networks of the statue that recovered, and suggested that Kintsugi -style repairs can be in order. Kintsugi is Japanese art to repair broken items with a specific coating mixed with precious metals with food such as gold, silver or platinum.

A petition has been launched requesting the city of Lugano “Logistic and Security Support” to restore the statue. Picozzi has offered to do things at his own cost, said the request.

The theft occurred just over a week after Satoshi Gallery announced his third statue of Satoshi Nakamoto in Tokyo, Japan.
