James Gunn has audited 400 actors to find the right choice for Superman. David Korenswet, who was selected, said in a recent interview that he and the filmmaker are “made for each other.”
He explained: “I think that in many ways, James and I are made for each other. James has this habit of, while you are working on the scene, he will sit next to the monitors in the microphone of God and will shout instructions, which is not how the directors work.”
“Usually, you do the scene, they say cut, and then come and say very private and silently: ‘I loved that moment you did this. What would happen if we tried something else in the next?” The actor said GQ.
The star said: “It is something that would throw many actors, and understandably.”
But he added: “The second that happened, I was, okay, this will be great because I have no idea what I am doing. I desperately need a director.”
David also shared: “I need a director who knows what they want and that he is willing to say it out loud without too much courtesy and without hitting the mountain. If I am not good, tell me that I am not good and then we work together to make me good.”
Superman It will fly to theaters on July 11.
