Texas Chainsaw Massacrethe horror epic, is all set to get a reboot, but not as a movie but as a television series.
Previously there were reports that The long walk Writer JT Mollner is set to create a reboot film about Leatherface’s killer, with Glen Powell playing the key role.
It has now been revealed that the long-awaited project has been turned into a TV show for a “unique” reason.
A24 has acquired the rights to make the series in Texas chainsaw massacre.
While reporting precisely what the show will be about, writer Kim Henkel stated, “There’s an epic story lurking in Chainsaw’s backstory.”
Mollner, who will serve as director on the project, did not want to remake the 1947 classic, because he believes it was already done perfectly.
He added: “I’ve said publicly that I’m not interested in remaking perfect movies, and the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a perfect movie.”
According The Hollywood Reporter JT shared that when he came up with the idea of exploring the world in long-form, he looked at it in a completely different way.
“When I came up with the idea of a long-term exploration of this world, I saw it as a new way in, as well as honoring and developing existing folklore,” said the sugar town director.
He further said, “It’s the only way I wanted to do it, and I can’t imagine better partners for this concept than A24. It’s truly an honor.”
