The Veronica García state championship is finding tons of reaction.

García, last year student at East Valley High School in Spokane, Washington, took home the state title of 400 meters 2a from the girls on Saturday. Garcia is a transgender woman.

Garcia, according to the Seattle Times, was interrupted before the race and was booed after her.

But criticism did not end on Saturday. With the students back at school after the weekend, high school girls decided to take the matter in their own hands.

Numerous girls from Tumwater High School in Tumwater protested during school hours with a large banner signal that said: “This is not a walk (sic). We are not going anywhere.”

Other signs read “XX”, “female sports protests” and other similar messages.

The Association of Interscholastic Activities of Washington (WIAA) issued the following statement to Pak Gazette Digital: “The WIAA continues to proudly represent the more than 225,000 participating students throughout the state. The association is aware of the protest for the students of Tumwater HS”.

Tumwater Girls team ended third in the match. Reese Heryford ended in 15 in a preliminary race for 400 meters, not being in the top eight to qualify for the final.

Garcia said the boos were “to wait[ed]”

“I will be honest, I wait for him,” Garcia told Seattle Times. “But maybe it didn’t have its planned effect. He angered me, but not angry because I wanted to give up, but angry because I’m going to push.

“I’m going to put this in the most PG-13 way. I’m going to say that it is a damn pity that they have nothing more to do. I hope they get a life. But hey. Just show who they are like people.”

Garcia, who ran the race in 55.70 seconds, won for a complete second. That time would have been the slowest for any child, even in preliminary rounds. Garcia also won a state championship last year and complained about the Lack of sportsmanship of other competitors.

Garcia’s victory occurred approximately one week after the Quilcene school district in Washington voted, 3-2, to maintain sports competition based on the birth genre of athletes, a movement that challenges state law.

The WIAA, promulgated in 2007, allows transgender students to participate based on their gender identity.

President Donald Trump He signed an executive order in February to keep biological boys outside girls and women, but the public instructional superintendent of Washington, Chris Reykdal, who once said that it would be “inaccurate” to say that there are only two genres, said the order challenges state law.
