The UN Security Council meets on the rising tensions of Pakistan-India

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has gathered to address the growing tensions between Pakistan and India after a deadly attack in Jammu and Kashmir occupied by illegaly and Kashmir (Iiojk).

The assault of April 22 in Pahalgam, which left 26 people dead, has become one of the most mortal incidents in the region in more than two decades.

India, without presenting any evidence, has involved that the attackers had “cross -border links”, a claim that Pakistan has strongly denied. Islamabad has requested a neutral and transparent investigation into the incident.

In response to the growing confrontation, Pakistan moved quickly to activate diplomatic channels.

Acting on the directives of the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s permanent representative before the UN ambassador, Equal Iftikhar, requested an emergency meeting of the CSNU. The session began at 3 pm local time at the UN Headquarters in New York.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, Pakistan intends to inform the Security Council about “aggressive aggressive actions of India, repeated provocations and inflammatory rhetoric”, which says they threaten regional and global peace.

The FO also highlighted the recent movement of India to unilaterally suspend the Treaty of the Water of the Indo, qualifying it as a violation of international obligations.

Pakistan has urged UNSC to fulfill its mandate to maintain international peace and security by addressing these developments through appropriate measures. The meeting occurs in the midst of sustained international efforts to avoid greater deterioration between the two neighbors with nuclear weapons.
