The United Kingdom has eliminated Pakistan from its air security list, clearing the way for Pakistani airlines to request flight operations to the country, the United Kingdom air security committee announced on Wednesday.

Although Pakistani carriers can now request that it operate flights to the United Kingdom, each airline will still need to ensure the necessary permits of the United Kingdom civil aviation authority through a separate application process.

The measure follows years of technical collaboration between the United Kingdom Air Security Committee and the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), and officials confirm that sufficient improvements have been made since Pakistan was quoted for the first time in 2021 due to security concerns.

The decision is expected to relieve trips for more than 1.6 million people of Pakistani inheritance living in the United Kingdom and thousands of British citizens in Pakistan. It can also support the increase in bilateral trade, which is currently £ 4.7 billion, which converts the third largest commercial partner in the United Kingdom.

The United Kingdom’s Air Safety Committee made the decision through an independent and technically promoted security review process, which discovered that Pakistan had made the required security improvements.

“I am grateful to aviation experts in the United Kingdom and Pakistan for their collaboration work to promote improvements to meet international security standards. Although it will take time for flights to resume, once the logistics are in place, I hope to use a Pakistani carrier when you visit family and friends,” said the OBE of the British high commissioner Jane Mariott.
