- The United Kingdom Government is developing a new technological acquisition platform
- National digital exchange will connect public agencies with suppliers
- This expects to save £ 1.2 billion per year
The Department of Science, Information and Technology has announced a new ‘First of the classes’ platform for the acquisition of the public sector, which states will unbeliever £ 1.2 billion per year in savings and modernize the technological investments of the public sector.
National digital exchange will be a platform in which public sector agencies can qualify and review the products, service and technological software, which will help schools, hospitals and other departments to choose the most reliable and appropriate technology, and will also help them to know which to avoid.
By helping the public sector to make faster and better informed acquisition decisions, the platform will open the market to more technological companies in the United Kingdom and to boost the participation of small businesses in government technological contracts in 40% in three years.
Faster, fairer and focused
This platform is currently under development, and will be created under acquisition regulations, and is being developed together with a “digital play book” that will guide procurement officials towards responsible technological purchases.
The British government has been pressing for technological development in general, with the introduction of the AI Action Plan, which aims to turbocate the British AI sector.
This is a 50 -point plan that includes initiatives such as the delivery of public data to researchers, including NHS anonymous data, to train AI models, as well as the introduction of “AI growth areas” that accelerate the AI infrastructure, such as the construction of the data center and access to the energy grid.
“We have all heard the stories: months of bureaucracy, technology that does not deliver and lost money. That is not good enough for the people we serve,” said Feryal Clark, Minister of AI and digital government.
“The national digital exchange aims to change that. It will make it faster, faster and will focus on what works, with real reviews, in advance and intelligent prices to match buyers with adequate suppliers during hours. It is a clear example of our plan for change in action: reduce waste, boost innovation and support of British technology to deliver better public services.”
