- Strix Halo’s potential shines despite the first optimization challenges
- The big brands are left behind while Chinese manufacturers drive the adoption of Strix Halo
The less known Chinese brand Sdunited has launched the Ax835-025FF, a portable mini pc fed by Ryzen AI Max+ 395 of AMD with 128 GB of memory LPDDR5X-8000.
This Zen 5 processor of 16 nuclei and 32 threads is executed at 5.1GHz and is matched with a 40 -year GPU 8060s, which is expected to work similarly to an RTX 4060, which makes it a decent PC for photo editing.
The small brands, especially those of China, lead in the adoption of Chip Strix Halo on compact devices. While the largest companies such as ASUS, Framework and HP have integrated the APU in work stations, they have not yet explored compact and high performance mini PC.
Admits 14 amazing ports, but there is no oculink
The AX835-025FF has 14 impressive ports, offering flexibility for professional workloads and reinforcing its potential as one of the The most powerful computers in their class.
However, it lacks Oculink, which would have allowed the external expansion of GPU.
Unlike traditional Ultra Compact PCs modeled after Intel NUC 4×4, this system is slightly larger, but remains significantly smaller than most desktop computers.
It also includes a built -in power supply and a double fan cooling system designed to administer its energy consumption of 120 W.
The current Ryzen AI Max+ 395 sample experiences occasional instability and power fluctuations, ranging from 140W to 10W under load.
However, it shows Strix Halo’s potential and the final retail version is expected to improve optimization, stability and energy efficiency.
