The upper draft prospect Travis Hunter has an unwavering belief in the bidirectional future of the NFL

While experts discuss whether the NFL Travis Hinter draft prospect must be deployed as an offensive or full -time defensive player, the former Colorado star looks at himself as a bidirectional player.

“He made some meetings on the receiver. He did some meetings in DB. Then, still in the air,” Hunter answered the questions in the NFL exploration combination of playing significant snapshots in the offensive and defense in professionals.

“They say: ‘No one has really done it, the way I do it’, but I say: ‘I am just different’.”

Hunter played open and corner receiver in Jackson State and Colorado under Chief Deion Sanders coach. While it is projected that Hunter is a selection of the 10 best draft, it is not clear if the team that selects it will see it mainly as a unidirectional player.

Why the bidirectional star Travis Hunter can and must play both ways in the NFL

Hunter stood out on both sides of the ball in the university ranks, playing more than 700 snapshots in offensive and defense. He was named winner of the Heisman 2024 trophy in December.

“I do a lot of treatment,” Hunter added on Thursday. “People can’t see that part. What I do for my body to ensure that I am 100% in each game. I feel that nobody has done it. I know I can do it. I did it at the university level where you really get breaks. There are many more breaks in the NFL.”

It ended last season with 1,258 yards to receive a race and four interceptions were attributed as a defensive back. These numbers contributed to Hunter winning the honors of the defensive player of the year Big 12. He also received the Fred Bilatnikoff award as the best university football receiver of the season.

Hunter has not participated in simulacros in this week’s harvester, but confirmed that he has interviewed teams.

The bidirectional players of the NFL have been a rarity. Chuck Bednarik was the last full -time two -time athlete of the league. Bednarik was an offensive supporter and liner of the Philadelphia Eagles from 1949 to 62.

Sammy Baugh and Don Hutson are also former two -way stars. Baugh was a quartback, defensive and betting. Huston spent his entire NFL career with the Green Bay Packers, playing receiver and security. Later he had a period as an assistant coach of the Packers.

The NFL draft is scheduled for April 24 to 26 in Green Bay.
