The veteran Simpsons character disappears forever after three decades

The Simpsons left fans devastated with a character’s farewell announcement

The Simpsons He seems to have revealed the first sad news of 2026, which is the retirement of one of his beloved characters, Barry Duffman.

Duffman had been a part of the show for almost thirty years, and her absence will surely be felt in the coming seasons, after she said goodbye in a Rupture-Thematic episode on Sunday, January 4.

In the parody episode, Duff Beer spokesperson Seperance revealed that his role as the company’s mascot has come to an end, saying, “The Duff Corporation has retired that character for good. All the old forms of advertising are now out of fashion. Corporate spokespersons, print ads, television ads. Kids today can’t even sing the jingles.”

Viewers got a glimpse of the character later in the episode, albeit without his iconic uniform, which really hit home with the retirement.

The character made his first appearance in an episode in 1997, titled “New York City vs. Homer Simpson,” and quickly became a staple of the show.

No more than two months before Barry Duffman’s retirement, the show suspended another beloved character, First Church organist Alice Glick, who had been a part of the show for more than 34 years.
