Paul Tazewell has just made an “evil” story in the 2025 Oscars!
The costume designer, who was the intellectual author behind the dress of Wicked The actors and actresses won the praise for the best costume design on Sunday, March 2, which makes him the first black man to take home the trophy.
In his acceptance speech, the 60 -year -old declared: “This is absolutely amazing. Thanks Academy for this significant honor.”
“I am the first black man to receive the costume design award for my work in Wicked. I am very proud of this, ”he said.
Tazewell continued: “Thank you all in the United Kingdom for all your beautiful work, I couldn’t have done this without you.”
Then giving greetings to Wicked Cast, mentioned: “My ozians reflect, Cynthia [Erivo] and Ariana [Grande]I love you very much, all the other cast, thank you, thank you, for trusting me with giving life to your characters. This is all. Jon M. Chu and Producer Director [Marc Platt]thank you.”
His victory also comes years after Ruth E. Carter became the first black person to obtain the best costume design trophy, firm his efforts in Black Panther (2018) and then win again for their contributions to Black Panther: Wakanda forever (2022).
