- The July 10 update 10 broke part of the Picker Emoji
- This is a panel that allows you to select a large emoji library
- The search function is broken, which makes it sailing that expansion more difficult
The last Windows 10 update (for July) has broken part of the emoji panel in the operating system, Microsoft confirmed.
If you are not familiar with the Emoji Picker, it is invoked by pressing the Windows key with the full stop key (period), and consists of a compact panel full of emojis that you can select. They can then be inserted directly into their active application (such as Word, for example, if you want to add some emojis in a document you are working on).
The error does not prevent the selector from appearing; The problem is that the search function does not work anymore. After the last Windows 10 update, any emoji that seeks will not obtain any results: the operating system will return a message ‘We could not find this’ (or similar error).
This means that there are no shortcuts to find the emoji you want, you simply have to hunt through the (considerably) panel content.
Windows last noticed that Microsoft confirmed the error on the Windows Release Health Health board, stating that: “After the installation of the Windows Security update of July (KB5062554), the Windows Emoji panel search function finds no result in Windows 10, version 22h2”.
The company says that it is working on a solution that will be implemented in a future Windows 10 update. Of course, there are not many of those who will stop (except those who opt for the extension program, which recently improved with Microsoft thanks to the addition of an option that did not pay).
The end of the life of Windows 10 will be in October 2025, in case you have missed this.
ANALYSIS: Face with rolling eyes
A surprising number of people complain about this broken functionality. I say surprising because it is not a characteristic that I have used, but clearly, there are a good number of Windows 10 users who still trust the emotion of emoji, and losing the search capacity is a great disappointment, I can see that.
Those who transmitted their frustrations about Reddit error previously confirmed that eliminating the update of Julio cured the problem, and now, of course, Microsoft has admitted the problem itself.
What baffles me here is that, as noted, Windows 10 only has a few months of useful life. And so, at this stage of the game, with the retirement of the operating system you sign, why is Microsoft pulling any thread within the system that can make something unleash in this way? I don’t know, and yes, not develop an operating system; It is a very complex company full of headaches, and I should probably shut up, since there are undoubtedly reasons.
Even so, it seems quite strange, right? Windows 10 is finished, characteristics are not added and, nevertheless, in some way, errors are still dragging in recent times, and also strange failures (which would cause Emoji to suddenly fall into flames, I can’t start imagining).
Undoubtedly, we have time for a last ferret in a future update to bring another mistake (or maybe a couple, even know their luck).
If you listen to the theorists of the conspiracy of the operating system (yes, there are), this is Microsoft that participates in an intelligent plot to disturb it so that Windows 11 is finally updated. Although that if that were the elaborate plan, the software giant might have sabotaged a more important facet of the Windows 10 interface (like the start menu, Ahem).
