- The tracks in the previous views of Windows 11 suggest that AI comes to the taskbar
- This could be in the form of a ‘ai’ partner
- Exactly what its purpose would be far from being clear at this time
Microsoft could be planning to add an ai element to the taskbar in Windows 11, based on tracks on previous compilations and theorizing the rumor factory.
27914 LXP Changes. As always, some of these mentions already exist in “bars of tasks” Beta/DEV is mentioned in configuration configuration for several disco/partition tasks are now mentioned in the configuration number and the currency formats mentioned in region 1/2July 31, 2025
Windows last marked that well -known filter that Xeno published in X that they have found a function of ‘taskbar’, which is mentioned in the configuration (as well as in some other bits, including the capacities related to the games).
There is no explicit mention of the AI here, but the latest Windows notes that previously heard that Microsoft was thinking of adding actions from AI to the taskbar, and that this could be the mentioned partner (s).
The site says that another regular filter of Windows related events in X, Phantomofearth, said that the references to the classmates were in a preview of the Windows server last month, and that the previous views of Windows 11 have witnessed a mention of ‘Agent companions’ for the taskbar.
Windows Last also attracts our attention to a chain in a recent previous compilation of Windows 11 that is related to the ‘visibility of agent partners in the taskbar’.
Consider all this together, and the obvious theory, remembering that it is only the speculation that must be very seasoned at this time, is that the complementary functionality of the taskbar is linked to the agent in some way.
That term refers to an AI agent, or assistant, who would ignite through the taskbar.
Analysis: Double agent
If you want to have an idea of what could be reserved for the taskbar, you are not looking for the application configuration in Windows 11, which has just obtained an AI agent (only for co -pilot+ PCs). This facilitates an intelligent search to find the options with which you need to play in the configuration, so you can throw a query like ‘How to change the speed at which my mouse pointer moves?’ And the AI will find that option for you, and perhaps even offer a recommended configuration in some scenarios.
That is useless, but the question is: how could the functionality of ia like this operation in the taskbar? At this point, its assumption is as good as mine, but if you want the latter, it could be linked to notification management or calendar (outside the system tray).
Alternatively, like the latest Windows suggestions, I could feed some form of recommendations, such as the applications you can install, or websites that you can visit, which could be chosen for the taskbar (Microsoft already has this type of functionality in the start menu, of course). I sincerely hope that this is not the case, but this is a concept that Microsoft has played a little for the taskbar in the past.
The worrying thing for me is that I am struggling to think about something that could be genuinely useful in this theoretical scenario of the taskbar with AI infusion (while the agent in the configuration has some clear value in terms of exceling the search functionality). The concern, then, is that this would be a case of more only for good.
In any case, we are still in the early stages of progress here, with only the most vague tracks in the backwal bottom of Windows 11 that something could be happening with AI agents in the taskbar. Therefore, it is far from clear that Microsoft has those plans of this type, but again, the addition of more in Windows 11 would hardly be a surprise (perhaps only for co -pilot+ PCs, as is the case with the configuration agent).
