- he says the witcher The new version will need to change this detail to fit what we learn in The Witcher 3
- The designer also revealed that the game’s ending was not planned by the story team, calling it a “mistake.”
the witcherLead story designer Artur Ganszyniec has revealed new behind-the-scenes details about the development of the 2007 game ahead of its remake.
Ganszyniec has been playing the role-playing game (RPG) while commenting on YouTube, and in the developer’s latest video, he talked about what the witcher The new version will need to change to align with the events that will take place in the following games (via GamesRadar).
The designer referred to the Wild Hunt, the mythological group of hunters that appeared in the first game, and again in The Witcher 3Yo. He said that the CD Projekt Red team did not know they were elves at the time of the development of the first game.
“In the first the witcher“The wild hunt is more like the wild hunt of legends,” Ganszyniec said.
“We didn’t know they were armored elves yet. We really thought of them as wraiths, harbingers of death, and tools of fate. This part will probably need to be changed a bit in the new version.”
The wild hunt is referred to as “a harbinger of war and tragedy” in the game, which fits with their mythological roots as spectral hunters; However, Ganszyniec points out that in The Witcher 3They are revealed to be elves trying to stop a magical infection known as White Frost.
“Here the King of the Hunt is the personification of death,” he said, showing the scene in which Geralt meets the leader of the Hunt, “and I think that will require some modifications in the new version.”

In the same game, Ganszyniec also revealed that the game’s twist ending was not something the team originally planned and believes it was a “mistake.”
At the end of the game, Geralt goes to collect payment from King Foltest and ends up running into a mysterious assassin. After a sword fight, the killer is revealed to be a witch.
According to Ganszyniec, that’s where the story team wanted the game to end, “like with an open question and an open future.” However, upon finishing the game, it was decided to include an animated ending that set the stage for The Witcher 2.
“While we were finishing the game, someone decided, as the board decided, or [CD Projekt co-founder Michał Kiciński] “We decided we needed an animated exit from the game,” he explained.
“And the script for this… was created without really involving the story team. So we weren’t really paying attention. And I think that was a mistake.”
Ganszyniec continued: “It became clear that the next game will have to continue this and tell a story about sorcerers who for some reason kill kings. And that’s why the second sorcerer “It’s very political and there’s not a lot of room to explore who Geralt is, his family, his history and things like that.”
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the witcher The remake is in development at Fool’s Theory. Currently, the studio is working on the creation. The witcher 4which will be the first game in a new trilogy of sorcerer games that he wants to launch within a period of six years.
There have also been rumors that CDPR is working on a third expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which will supposedly be released this year.
