Karachi Rickshaw driver escapes with the dowry
Earlier this week, a Rickshaw driver fled with the dowry articles of a family in the Karachi Nazimabad area, leaving the victims distressed weeks before a wedding.
CCTV images of the incident have emerged on social networks, which caused calls to police action.
According to the affected family, the incident took place when they hired a Rickshaw from a market in Liaquatabad to transport household items to the city of Orangi.
Stolen products included utensils and other essential elements bought for an upcoming wedding.
Bilal, the victim’s brother, told the police that his mother and aunt were accompanying the dowry articles.
“We had agreed a rate with the Rickshaw driver, we loaded the items inside and tied a little to the roof. But when we arrived at Nazimabad number 4, he forced them to come out and accelerate with everything,” he said.
CCTV images show the suspect, dressed in a Kameez Brown Shalwar, trying to evade security cameras, which increases the suspicions that he had planned the robbery beforehand.
The family has appealed to the authorities to take quick measures and recover the stolen dowry items before the wedding at the end of this month.
