- German police and international partners complete the talent of the operation
- The operation saw two seized forums, two people arrested and a lot of confiscated money
- Supposedly cracked and annulled were the places to facilitate the cyber crime
An international operation of application of the law, headed by the German authorities and involving Europol, the FBI and many other forces of the European National Police, has resulted in the demolition of two important piracy forums, multiple arrests and the seizure of cash and cryptocurrency.
A Europol press release described how the “talent of the operation” took place between January 28 and 30, and resulted in two arrests, seven searched properties, 17 servers and more than 50 electronic devices seized, and about 300,000 euros and confiscated cryptocurrencies.
Perhaps the most important news, however, is the demolition of two important piracy forums: cracked and annulled, which, according to Europol, among them had more than 10 million users.
Operation talent
“Both underground economy forums offered a fast entry point in the cyber crime scene,” Europol explained in the press release. “These sites worked as unique stores and were used not only for discussions about cybercrime, but also as markets of illegal goods and cyber crime as a service, such as stolen data, malware or piracy tools. The investigators estimate that the suspects obtained 1 million euros in criminal profits. “
In the elimination process, the agents of application of the law confiscated 12 domains and eliminated the SELLIX financial processor and a accommodation provider called Startrdp.
In addition to Europol and the FBI, the operation included the Federal Police of Australia, the Anti -French office of France, the Federal Criminal Police Office of Germany (which directed the entire operation), the office of the attorney general Frankfurt am Main – Center for Cyber Crimes, the Hellenic Police of Greece, the State of Italy. Police, the Romanian General Inspection of the Romanian Police, the National Police of Spain and the United States Department of Justice.
This is not the first application of the Piracy Forum Law. The infractions, possibly the largest place of its kind, closed in April 2023, after the arrest of its administrator, Conor Brian Fitzpatrick. Instead, Breached formed, and today is the place of reference for everything related to cybercrime.
