The brave and the bold The identity of the writer has reportedly been revealed and DC fans are expressing their displeasure over the hiring.
According to industry expert Jeff Sneider, the DC Universe (DCU) Batman movie will be written by Christina Hodson. The Hollywood scribe is best known for writing the scripts for birds of prey and The flashalso known as two films set in the now defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
Normally, I would warn against believing what you read on the Internet. This is particularly true of rumors coming from people like Sneider, who is believed to be well-connected within the industry, but whose leak history is mixed at best.
This time, however, another industry expert, who goes by Apocalyptic Horseman on X/Twitter, has said that Hodson is writing the DCU script Batman movie. Apocalyptic Horseman is much more reliable when it comes to scoops and other industry gossip, so there seems to be some credibility to this rumor.
The revelation about Hodson’s involvement comes a few days after DCU co-head James Gunn provided a small update on The brave and the boldThe development.
Responding to a fan during a Threads Q&A, Gunn hinted that while the DCU Chapter One movie was in the works, it could be a long time before it hits theaters. This is because, from the perspective of the Batman project, DC Studios’ current priority is filming. Batman part II and make sure it meets the October 2, 2027 release date.
That film, which exists independently of the DCU, is the sequel to the 2022 Robert Pattinson-starring film. the batman and is expected to begin filming in early 2026. Not well. In fact, a thread on the DC Cinematic Reddit page is filled with opinions ranging from general bewilderment to outright frustration. Similar sentiments have been expressed on other social media platforms, including X/Twitter.
In the grand scheme of things, these opinions are shared by a fraction (albeit a very vocal one) of the global DC Comics fan base. So while they give us an idea of what people think about Hodson’s involvement, it’s impossible to determine whether the majority of people have a similar opinion.
However, for some it is not all bad news. As others have noted, Hodson was the primary writer of Bumblebeewhich is widely considered to be one of the best Transformers movies out there. Meanwhile, in the aforementioned Reddit thread, some observers highlighted a scene of The flashone involving Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne, and argued that it shows Hodson has a “great understanding” of the iconic character and his crime-fighting alter ego.
For what it’s worth, Gunn has yet to confirm or deny (at least at press time) that Hodson is writing tuberculosis and tuberculosisThe script.
If Hodson’s involvement is announced in due course, it will mark the first major update we’ve received about the DCU’s Batman movie in months. In fact, aside from Gunn’s responses to fans on Threads, June 2025 was the last time he spoke about its development, with the DC Studios co-CEO saying, “I think I have a way in” with The brave and the boldThe story of.
