According to Memon, the Red BRT line remains a key approach and will be completed as soon as possible, with the project advancing under the support of the World Bank.
Established in 2020, Transkarachi is a public sector company owned by the Government of Sindh. It serves as an implementing agency for the red line of Karachi Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) of $ 503 million.
The project is sponsored by the Provincial Government with the financial support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the co-financial, including the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the French Development Agency (AFD) and the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
The Red Line project is developing in three phases.

Phase one will connect the Model Colonia to Mosmiyat, Phase two will extend the Mosmiyat Route to ChowRangi from Numaish, and phase three will work from the Municipal Park to La Torre.
The base stone for phases one and two, which cover the acquisition of buses and civil works, was placed in August 2022 with an initial end target of 2024, but the deadline has been uncertain.
At the beginning of March, Memon had said that the BRT project of the Yellow Line will be completed in May 2025, five months earlier than expected.
The Red Line BRT project faces some problems due to civil aviation, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) and K-IV, which will be resolved soon, Memon said.
He also said that Green Line rates will not increase, but that facilities will increase even more so that better travel facilities can be provided to people.
