- Samsung reportedly won’t launch Galaxy S26 Edge due to poor sales of S25 Edge
- There may be a Galaxy S26 Plus in its place, but Samsung doesn’t have much time to develop one
- The company is also said to discontinue the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.
We’ve heard rumors for a while that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge might not sell brilliantly, but the situation could be even worse than we thought, as Samsung is reportedly discontinuing the entire line.
This is according to a report from News Pim (via @Jukanlosreve), which claims that Samsung has decided not to launch the Galaxy S26 Edge and will instead sell a Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus alongside the Samsung Galaxy S26 (which could be called S26 Pro) and the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Additionally, Samsung apparently won’t be manufacturing any more Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge units, so once current stock runs out, it might be impossible to purchase.
A credible claim
Of course, we’d take all of this with a pinch of salt, but it seems credible, especially since the site claims to have spoken to a Samsung official, who said, “I don’t know if the slim line will come back, but it doesn’t look easy right now,” adding, “I think it can be considered essentially gone.”
It’s also not particularly surprising to learn that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge isn’t selling well. After all, it’s in some ways a worse phone than the standard Samsung Galaxy S25, with a smaller battery and fewer cameras, but it costs more, essentially because it’s 1.4mm thinner.
Apple’s somewhat similar iPhone Air is reportedly not selling brilliantly either, so it seems there just isn’t much of a market for super-thin phones. At least not when that means compromising other specifications and increasing prices.
Still, Samsung has reportedly finished developing the Galaxy S26 Edge and likely won’t have much time to replace it with a Galaxy S26 Plus, as the S26 line is expected to arrive early next year.
So we’re still not completely ruling out the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge, and if it is indeed cancelled, we also wouldn’t be surprised if we only see two phones in the S26 line, despite claims here that a Plus model is now planned.
