- Doctor Who The main dynamics of season 2 will differ greatly from the association last season
- The doctor’s friendship with the new companion Bel will not be the same as he enjoyed with Ruby
- Ncuti Gatwa and Verada Sethu have explained why things will not always be optimistic among their characters
Doctor WhoThe main cast has revealed how the last partner of the titular character differs from his predecessor Ruby Sunday.
In statements to Techradar, Ncuti Gatwa and Verada Sethu, who play the doctor and Bel, explained that the couple’s dynamics have a tense beginning in the second season of Disney+ Show.
Compared to the immediately harmonious relationship that Gatwa’s 15th doctor enjoyed Ruby, who will return in some way this season, is an icy beginning of what will be a spicy marriage of friendship in the style of convenience.
In fact, while the duo learns to become a “really strong team” as the last installment of the series progresses, the deeply rooted self of Bel also means that the lord of the starting time will have his hands full with her in Doctor Who Season 2. You know, when you are not dealing with all types of broader planetary and universal threats.
“Bel has such a strong sense of himself and his own values,” Sethu told me. “I love that she owns and has so many things in her own life for which she feels responsible. As a nurse, she is a affectionate and selfless person, so she wants to be the person who was before meeting the doctor. He has no interest in floating in space and time with this type!”
“[In the 2023 Christmas special]Ruby did not think twice before jumping to the staircase of the Goblin ship, “Gatwa intervened.” She wanted to go to this adventure very voluntarily and be part of the doctor’s world.
“Bel was taken from his own world and placed on his, so there is no interest on his part to follow Ruby’s footsteps,” he continued. “Then, what should be formed is a real association based on an inherent equality and maturity between the doctor and Bel. She understands the weight of the responsibility, loss and difficulties of life in general. But, at the end of the first episode of this season, she is also aware that the doctor is a very dangerous man.”
She makes him responsible for many things

“She makes him responsible for many things,” Sethu added. “It is not surrounded by itself, people like him could have been before. Now, travel with someone who will say ‘No, that is not absolutely well.’
“But they can grow together because they can fill the gaps where others fall short. They become a really strong team that has a great sense of trust and platonic love, which develops throughout the season.”
