- Edifier’s new desktop speaker option is called M90
- Pair of compact stereo speakers shown at CES 2026, Las Vegas
- For the first time on Edifier speakers, eARC is in the menu for uncompressed audio
Now, a port may not seem that exciting (unless you’re a sailor, perhaps), but eARC unlocks something extra. This is, if you don’t know, the type of connection your TV will use to output to the best Dolby Atmos soundbar or speaker. It stands for Enhanced Audio Return Channel and allows your speaker to play uncompressed audio.
As a result, you can connect the Edifier M90 to your TV and get fantastic audio from your movies, shows, and games. The brand’s product listing page shows its use alongside a television, consoles, PC and even a turntable, although not all will have eARC connectivity. It also supports optical, AUX, USB-C and Bluetooth connections, with support for Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless and the LDAC and SBC codecs.
Edifier M90: Key specifications
That masterful transition takes us to the general specifications. Each of the M90’s two speakers features a 4-inch long-throw mid-bass driver and a 1-inch silk dome tweeter, for a frequency response of 50 Hz to 40 kHz, and in total they have a total output power of 100 W. That should sound pretty loud.
They weigh 6kg between them and come with a remote control that you can use in addition to, or instead of, the Edifier app or the buttons on the device. They also allow multipoint connection and the connection of a secondary subwoofer.
The only thing Edifier hasn’t announced about the M90 is availability: price and release date (well, those are two things). Based on the M60’s price, they could sell for around $200, but the advanced feature set (and higher title number) mean we can’t rule out a higher cost.
Having not tried them, my main concern is whether the use cases match the feature set: my TV is not next to my PC, and to use these speakers in conjunction with both, I would need to move them around my apartment all the time. So maybe these aren’t “jack of all trades” speakers but rather “polyfiller, fill any gaps you have.”
