- Swann Unveils New Home Security Tech at CES 2025
- MaxRanger range includes AI doorbell and new security cameras
- The Xtreem4K is an AI security camera that can talk to intruders
As the owner of one of the best video doorbells, I’ll be the first to admit that while being able to chat with someone through the device, like talking to a delivery person while I’m out, is a good idea, in practice I never use it. If I can’t open the door, it’s usually because I’m busy doing something else, but what if the doorbell could open the door for me? That’s a question Swann has answered with new AI-powered camera and doorbell options it unveiled at CES 2025.
Back in October last year we covered the SwannBuddy4K, which we gave four stars in our SwanBuddy 4K review, but now there’s the MaxRanger4K video doorbell. It’s a wireless doorbell that features full-color Ultra HD video day and night, and comes with no subscription fees (so there’s no paywall blocking you from the most useful features).
The MaxRanger4K doorbell features a wireless range of up to 300m from the hub, a battery life of approximately three months per charge, and 64GB of storage. Oh, and it can talk to visitors for you, just like SwannBuddy.
Under the name MaxRanger, Swann also shows off some non-AI security cameras. All of them also have no additional fees and feature 4K video day and night, but offer a wider ring of security around your home. The Mini can be placed up to 300m away from its hub with 64GB of storage, while the MaxRanger4K Max features a range of 600m from the hub with 64GB of storage, and the Pro model offers a maximum range 1 km from the hub and 128 GB of storage.
However, if you want to take things up a notch, Swann is also introducing the Xtreem4K with SwannShield AI Defender Security Guard.
This is a wireless security camera with many of the same specs as previous models, such as a three-month rechargeable battery, day and night 4K color video capture, and free local recordings up to 32GB. It also includes heat and motion sensors, which can activate lights, sirens and recordings.
Although unlike previous MaxRanger cameras, the Unwanted visitors or escalate if it occurs. believe there is a security threat.
We’ll have to test these devices to determine their effectiveness, but we’ve already been impressed with Swann’s technology, so we’re excited to try them out when they launch in the US, UK, and Australia.
