Third round of talks between PTI and government ‘could be the last’

PESHAWAR:

The senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Shaukat Yousafzai, has declared that the third round of negotiations between the government and his party could be the last, since the attitude of the rulers is not serious. He added that the government seemed to be on the defensive.

He added that Imran Khan had already said that the government lacks authority, but it was good that the PTI entered into talks to expose the government.

He stressed that the establishment should now realize that the PML-N and the PPP are a burden on the country. “They talk about Pakistan’s progress, but where is the money?” he questioned. Yousafzai argued that without law and order, rule of law and political stability, no one would invest in Pakistan.

He criticized the government for taking loans worth Rs 27 trillion in two years, asked where that amount was spent and demanded accountability as the public has not received any relief.

He accused the government of being afraid of negotiations and wondered why Imran Khan’s negotiation committee is not allowed to meet if the government really has the authority. Yousafzai dismissed claims about development in Punjab and stated that laptop distribution cannot win hearts. He commented that many youth accepted laptops from Maryam Nawaz but replaced her photo with that of Imran Khan.

Expressing disappointment over the media spat between Afzal Marwat and Salman Akram Raja, he urged senior leaders to ensure discipline within the party.

It seems that the party’s provincial and central leadership seem to be on the same page when it comes to talks with the government.

The PTI central leadership on Thursday questioned the dialogue process with the PML-N-led government after the ruling coalition failed to arrange a meeting between jailed PTI founding president Imran Khan and the negotiation committee. of the party. The meeting could not take place despite earlier promises that it would take place.

Speaking about the delayed meeting with former Prime Minister Imran Khan at Adiala Jail ahead of the next round of talks, PTI leaders said there are now major doubts whether the other side is in a position to deliver.

Despite the government’s inability to provide its negotiation committee with access to the party leader in Adiala jail, the PTI leadership has categorically stated that it is not withdrawing from the dialogue process.

At the same time, he waits for the next “excuse” from the government.
