A new indie game just released and I can already tell it’s going to take over my life. Called raccoonPerfectly captures all the fun of coin-pushing arcade games without emptying your wallet.
Available now for PC via Steam, raccoon It’s described as a “roguelike deck builder,” although instead of cards, you collect special coins and super-powered prizes that can be combined in interesting ways. There are over 150 different coins to try in the coin push game, each with their own unique effects to master.
So far, I’ve found coins that form huge towers, others that duplicate or absorb surrounding coins into huge vortexes, and more. No matter the effect, they’re all incredibly fun to use thanks to physics that give each coin a lovely, heavy look and some very satisfying sound effects.

Sending several special coins at the same time also has surprising results. I hit a coin bomb with another that increases the size of everything it touches, causing a gigantic explosion that practically destroyed the entire machine. It’s still early in my coin collecting adventures, but I imagine there will be quite a bit of strategy involved in cleverly using these special coins to maximize my high scores.
There are also 15 power-up items (which have similar effects), six playable characters with their own unique currencies, and eight difficulty levels. While much of the game involves reaching a specific score in order to progress, there is an infinite mode for those who simply can’t get enough.
