Samsung has never managed to get its flagship Galaxy phones released on as regular a schedule as Apple has followed with the best iPhones, and it looks like in 2026 the dates will change again.
According to Dealabs (via Wccftech), the Samsung Galaxy S26 series will be available for purchase on Wednesday, March 11. This will follow a launch event expected to take place on Wednesday, February 25.
You may remember that the Samsung Galaxy S25 phones were revealed to the world on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. They were then available for purchase starting Monday, February 3, almost a couple of weeks later.
It’s not unusual for announcement dates and on-sale dates to be different, but it looks like the 2026 Galaxy flagships will launch significantly later in the year than their 2025 counterparts, as previously rumored.
Three incoming models
While we don’t know for sure why the Galaxy S26 phones will launch later this year than previous phones, it has been speculated that uncertainty over the successor to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is part of the reason.
Those in the know say that the Galaxy S25 Edge hasn’t sold particularly well (see also the super-thin iPhone Air), so Samsung has decided to get rid of it and bring back the Plus model, which Samsung was thinking of withdrawing, according to rumors.
As it stands now, we expect to see the Samsung Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra in February. There could also be a successor to the mid-range Samsung Galaxy S25 FE later this year.
